NAVTEC to arrange jobs for trained IDP youths

National Vocational & Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC), will make all possible efforts arrange jobs for pass-outs of vocational training courses, being held at IDP camps, for the youths of Internally Displaced Persons.

This was stated by the Executive Director, NAVTEC, Mr. Muhammad Athar Tahir, while talking to the participants of the second month-long mobile training course at Sheikh Shahzad IDP Camp in Mardan District today. He visited the Camp on the advice of Chairman NAVTEC, Mr. Adnan A. Khawaja.

Under the directive of the Prime Minister, NAVTEC had diverted its mobile training facilities to three IDP camps located at Shah Manssor(Swabi), Sheikh Shahzad (Mardan) and Jalozai(Nowshehra). 1st course has already completed in which 120 youth had received training in three useful trades including Automotive Mechanic, Welding Sheet Metal and Light Engineering.
The Executive Director called upon the trainees to learn the technical trades with full devotion as these would help them to earn decent livelihood for them and their families.

The purpose of these training courses is to positively contribute to lessen the woes of IDPs, engage them in healthy activities and to guide the displaced youth towards learning some useful trades during the course of their displacement.

These training courses are free of cost and the trainees are also being paid Rs.2,000 stipend on the successful conclusion of the month–long course.

Later, the Executive Director, NAVTEC, visited IDP camp, Takht Bai and distributed certificates and cash awards to 72 pass–outs of a short course of First Aid and Personal Hygiene. The course was conducted with the collaboration of Pakistan Red Crescent Society.

Congratulating the pass-outs, the Executive Director hoped that they will make best use of the training they have received in the camps and help their brothers in hour of need, On the occasion he also gave away gifts of First Aid Box, on behalf of NAVTEC, to each of the successful participants of the course. He informed that First Aid training will be imparted in all IDP camps, established in NWFP.
