Today is 56th birth anniversary of Pakistan’s most popular political leader and chairperson of Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Although Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is not among us today but people are celebrating her birthday with traditional zeal and fervor, which is an evidence of the fact that beacon of patriotism and love for people kindled by Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is still lit, as ever. The name of Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is, today, and will remain for ever a symbol of hope and courage. Even death has not eliminated people’s affiliation with and respect for her. The fact cannot be denied that Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto left permanent marks on national politics through the way she expressed her political insight by way of peaceful struggle and courageous way of representing peoples’ aspirations. The courage and resolve shown by her for restoration of democracy, protection of human rights and preservation of peoples’ political rights, specially the way she spoke for the workers of PPP, has become an authentic and enviable reference of our history. The glaring achievement of Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is giving the people of Pakistan “Charter of Democracy” which gave birth to new phase of thought and action in national life. Apart from this, she highlighted a new philosophy of reconciliation which entirely changed political temperament of the nation.

During her 30 years of political life Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto practiced the principles of reconciliation, patience and cool thinking to achieve her political goals and missions. She was not only fully conscious of the problems and difficulties faced by the country, but also had sharp sense of how to resolve them, which she exhibited as Prime Minister of Pakistan. The fact is that Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto gave new dimensions to the job of a Prime Minister of Pakistan by showing extraordinary talent for protecting national interest and resolving peoples’ problems.

She used to say that her life is the property of Pakistan and its people and by giving away her life, while surrounded by workers, she proved that her life rightly belong to the people of Pakistan. She raised her voice against extremism even at the risk of her life, in order to warn the world of the perils of terrorism. Today, we are engaged in relentless struggle to safeguard our land from the terrorists and to make it a safe heaven for the people. It was Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who gave us the realization to wage a war against the menaces of terrorism and extremism.

Let us pledge with ourselves on the occasion of birth anniversary of great leader and proud daughter of the nation that we shall continue our war against terrorism and extremism till complete victory. This is the best way to pay tributes to our Shaheed leader on the occasion of her birth anniversary. I hope that we shall celebrate her next birth anniversary in a changed environment where there will be no terrorism and extremism. I pray Almighty Allah to give us courage and energy to accomplish this mission.
