Acting Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashood has accepted the resignation of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Member Punjab Assembly Shumaila Rana from assembly membership due to her alleged involvement in a credit card's scandal. While her party membership has also been cancelled.

Shumaila Rana handed over her resignation to Acting Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashood in his chamber. Shumaila Rana in his resignation said that he had tendered resignation from assembly membership on the directives of Party leadership and she is bound to implement party rules and regulation.

After the release of video showing Shumaila Rana shopping with allegedly stolen credit card, the PML-N demanded her resignation. Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Chief PML-N has demanded the Party central leadership to take resignation from Shumaila Rana because due to her Party image was tarnishing.

Acting Speaker Punjab Assembly has sent the resignation of Shumaila Rana to election commission and made it clear his Party would not create obstacle in Police investigation into the case. The PML-N has lost its reversed seat in the Punjab assembly. Sources said a PML-N MNA tried his level best to rescue Shumaila Rana but he also failed to do so. Subsequently the PML-N has also cancelled her membership.
