Gojra: Clash and exchange of fire between two groups killed 6

A DSP, TPO and several other persons were injured during a clash and exchange of fire between two groups outside railway station in Gojra tehsil of Toba Tek Singh.

Also, two houses have been torched with the clash still in progress unabated with armed people on rooftops firing gunshots.

According to police, a group took out a procession. As the procession passed from the rival group area, gunshots were fired, injuring six, followed by stones hurling from both sides.

The injured include zubair, Asif, Nadeem, Ali Raza, Safdar and Irfan, who have been transported to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

The incident unleashed tension in the area and the demonstrators had blocked the road, burnt tyres and set on fire two houses located in a colony in front of railway station.

Police resorted to tear-gassing to break up the crowd. Rail traffic has been halted due to tense situation.

The hurling of stones between the groups injured at least seven including DSP Akbar Niazi, a gunman Khalid and TMO.

To dilute the tension, MPA Muhammed Khosa, Kamran Michael and Faisalabad Commissioner and DIG appeared on the spot to negotiate with the demonstrators.
