Country to have 3500 MW additional electric power by December 2009

On the directive of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the installation work of power plants and project is in full swing and Government would ensure the availability of 3500 MW additional electric power by 2009.

Sources said, Atlas Power project having capacity of 81 mega watt electricity and Samundari Road power project having capacity of 150 MW electricity would be completed by August while Orient Power Project with capacity of 225 MW electricity and Nishat power plant with capacity of 200 MW electricity would be completed by September this year.

Fauji Marri power project having capacity of 202 MW, Muridke power with capacity 225 MW, Sahiwal power with capacity of 225 MW and Guddu power with capacity of 110 MW would be completed by October current year.

On the directives of Government, Pakistan Electric Power Company would complete Sohowala Sialkot power project having capacity of 150 MW, Station Road power project with capacity of 200 MW, Naudero power with capacity of 51 MW, Karka Power Karachi with capacity of 249 MW, Gulf Power Aimanabad with capacity of 81 MW, Engro power project with capacity of 227 MW and Zorlu power with capacity of 50 MW by December 2009.

It may be recalled here GENCO power project with additional capacity of 300 MW, Attock Power with capacity of 165 MW and Malakand II power plant with capacity of 81 MW have already been completed.
