No secret deal with Zardari, says Nawaz

Quaid Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif has said that he did not strike any secret deal with President Asif Ali Zardari and he has no desire to destabilize the government of Asif Ali Zardari however adding there would be no compromise on principles.

Talking to a delegation of Sindhi journalists on Friday, the former prime minister said that he has no desire to become president or the prime minister and neither N-league wants any ministries. We would play our role by sitting in the opposition benches. He said Asif Ali Zardari is the elected President of this country and PM Yousaf Gilani the elected Prime Minister and we have no intention to destabilize their government. We want to work with them to strengthen democracy and bring the country out of the critical juncture it is going through.

He said we had joined the government in the past so that the agreement that we had inked with Benazir Bhutto could be implemented and if she had been alive today the agreement would have been implemented in letter and spirit.

He said we want immediate abolition of the 17th amendment.

He said that without implementing Charter of Democracy (CoD) in letter and spirit, democratic system is not possible in the country, saying instead of Parliamentary system, Musharraf's system exist in the county.

He said that instead of presenting guard of honor to Pervez Musharraf, he should have been held accountable for injustices he committed with the nation and the judiciary.

Responding to a question he said an APC should be summoned to work out the Balochistan situation.

He said in his capacity as PML-N chief he would soon visit Sindh as PML cannot ignore Sindh. Answering a question on Kala Bagh Dam (KBD), the veteran politician said that no project including KBD should be constructed without national consensus.
