Just as India's Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, started his speech, Kashmiri Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus raised their chants, "Azadi" [FREEDOM]. The world media corp gathered there, especially from countries other than United States and U.K who normally cover up for India, were astonished that India, which is promoting itself through films and paid advertisements as a bastion of tolerance and democracy, is actually sitting on one of the most biggest frauds of recent times. The Kashmiris protested against Indian killings, occupation, rapes and brutality of the Indian occupation army in Kashmir.

Zardari Sahib is being unfairly criticized for not even waiting for Benazir’s grave flowers to dry up before he is found using words as “gorgeous” “Willing to embrace” for yet another tall fair spectacled lady , I mean words used for the VP candidate Sarah Palin of the Republican party in the USA. Even To begin with , Our land was always never short of charmers and the enchanted folks but lately our foreign policy has taken an informal turn, for example our respected former PM shortcut Aziz wanted to get close to Condy Rice but bad stars prevailed or may be she was too clever to fall for this Desi charmer she being a shortcut route searcher herself .

For us Pakistanis , Now This represents either Bravado or Desperation , It seems our president is even willing to be a sacrificial lamb to save his country from the wrath of USA , he is trying to settle matters with powerful women of our master power . His gesture of offer of this “supreme sacrifice” must be seen in proper light . After all he is the same president who claimed he was regular “Tahajat” Prayer while in captivity . So this cannot be all uncontrolled Libido . All this is for utter good of the nation .But then May be he too like Musharaf takes pride in nothing else except Taboo violation . May be he is telling media that he cares two hoots for likes of Qazi , Fazl and all the self styled Islamicists of Pakistan who are malleable professional stuff.

But historically this turn of foreign policy is again not new , Our grotesque foreign policy was never different , Sikander Mirza’s Son Married the daughter of American Envoy to Pakistan . Bhutto married second time to Benazir’s Mother and got close to Iranian lady circle of Sikander Mirza whom he served as minister .

Our Military dictators were no different except perhaps Gen .Zia but he too used cricket diplomacy whilst Rajiv was contemplating attack .

Word Grotesque diplomacy was invented for post elder Bhutto PPP. Take for example PPP’s handling of Kashmir , this was always unconventional , just imagine newly appointed Fazl ur Rahman in hot argument with western leaders about Kashmir in Arabic , whose committee he heads . Prior to that late Nawabzada Nasrullah who had better credentials for Kashmir Committee chairman -, except that he like Fazl’s ancestors were not pre-partition Muslim leaguers and rather pro congress - was found arguing with foreign custom people for clearance of his “hookah” fuel on airports .

One other diplomacy also exists , this we are charged by India and her allies , this is Bomb diplomacy , both countries never seem to have enough of it , when seen in that context our Zardari is a lot softer , utterly civilized , 100% along with local traditions of charming , knows what he is doing and must be given a chance , afterall not everybody is one hate worthy disappointing , Bush glued Dr. Rice .Our rugged old stallion might click and save the kingdom albeit one objection , the lady Sarah is since long married with kids .

This diplomacy is once again reminiscent of elder Bhutto’s remark about Indira Gandhi’s “Saris” in 1970s and Nusrat Bhuttos Ball room dance with Gerald Ford . Zardari clan is proving they too are infact Bhuttos and that is what actually matters . God Bless his thoughts in holiest of month Ramazan , though it being the month of embracing God not Palins of this world .

Transparency International's launched its corruption perception index 2008 (CPI), which indicates that Pakistan is still bogged down in the vicious circle of corruption, being the 45th most corrupt country of the world.

In 1998 Pakistan and India in CPI ranked as 71 and 66 respectively out of 85 countries surveyed, with a score of 2.7 and 2.9, and in 2008 Pakistan and India are ranked 134 and 85 out of the 180 countries, with a score of 2.5 and 3.6.

The difference in corruption ranking between the two countries has increased from 5 in 1998 to 49 in 2008.The present economic status of the two countries confirms that the economic growth is inversely proportional to corruption.

In 1998 Pakistan and India FE reserves were US $1.60 billion and US $26 billion, and in 2008 they are US $9.10 billion and US $237 billion.In the last ten years the gap in India and Pakistan FE reserves increased, from 16 times in 1998 to 26 times in 2008.

In 1998 Pakistan trade deficit was US $3.20 billion, whereas in only the first two months of July-August 2008, it is US $3.52 billion.The CPI 2007 is based on the data primarily from the past two years, relating to perceptions that may have been formed even farther in the past. Pakistan CPI is based on the surveys conducted by the Asian Development Bank, IBRD, World Economic Forum, Economic Intelligence Unit, Merchant International Group and three other organisations.

RESULTS: The Transparency International CPI measures the perceived levels of public sector corruption in a given country and is a composite index, drawing on different expert and business surveys.

The 2008 CPI scores 180 countries (the same number as the 2007 CPI) on a scale from zero (highly corrupt) to ten (highly clean).Denmark, New Zealand and Sweden share the highest score at 9.3, followed immediately by Singapore at 9.2. Looking at source surveys, included in both the 2007 and 2008 indexes, significant declines can be seen in the scores of Bulgaria, Burundi, Maldives, Norway and the United Kingdom.Similarly, statistically significant improvements over the last year can be identified in Albania, Cyprus, Georgia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, South Korea, Tonga and Turkey.

The weakening performance of some wealthy exporting countries, with notable European decliners in the 2008 CPI, casts a further critical light on government commitment to rein in the questionable methods of their companies in acquiring and managing overseas business, in addition to domestic concerns about issues such as the role of money in politics.The continuing emergence of foreign bribery scandals indicates a broader failure by the world's wealthiest countries to live up to the promise of mutual accountability in the fight against corruption.

Driver killed in the firing and ambassador Abdul Khaliq Farahi abducted

PESHAWAR: Afghanistan's ambassador designate to Pakistan was abducted and his driver killed in an ambush on the diplomat's car Monday, in Peshawar, Afghan consulate said.

"The driver was killed in the firing and ambassador Abdul Khaliq Farahi has been abducted," said by the spokesman and commercial attaché of Afghan embassy Noor Mohammad.

Gunmen opened fire on the car as it was taking the ambassador from the consulate in the city centre to his home in a plush suburb of Hayatabad area near the Afghan border.

The consul, Abdul Khaliq Farahi, was due to take over in coming days as the Afghan ambassador to Islamabad, officials said.

Flights suspended in Pakistan following Saturday's suicide attack

British Airways has halted all flights to Pakistan following the bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, a spokesman for the airline said on Monday. "We have temporarily suspended our flight operations in Pakistan following Saturday's suicide attack," Sohail Rehman, a spokesman for British Airways in Islamabad said.The last flight from London to Islamabad, the only destination served by the airline in Pakistan, operated on Sunday, Rehman said

Hamid Mir on FATA

Hamid Mir is one of the top TV commentators who has his own TV show called Capital Talk that he does from Islamabad from Pakistan's largest TV channel GEO. He was the last person to interview Osama bin Laden and as I write this I hear his voice on CNN as he is being introduced by Christiane Amanpour, who is saying that he is writing an authorized biography of Osama bin Laden. The video, which is his live broadcast from one of the FATA regions (on September 12th or 13th) is in Urdu (but viewers comments are in English).

Basically, he says the following:

1. This entire place is lost to Pakistan...it is not Pakistan anymore....no one here talks of Pakistan....the writ of Pakistan government does not run here.

2. The army, which is camped in this entire region does not fight the Taliban because they are strong and the army is afraid of fighting with them. Instead they bomb and kill innocent civilians.
3. America too only kills innocent civilians and none of their strikes ever has killed any Taliban or al-Qaeda fighters and he challenges America to produce any shred of evidence to the contrary.

4. He also challenges the Pakistan army to give a shred of evidence of having killed one Taliban fighter, just one - name, picture or produce a body. He believes, Pakistan army is only 'pretending to kill Taliban to extract money from the USA while America is doing its own dirty work to involve Pakistan in its nefarious scheme.

5. He says he wrote a scathing op-ed that was published in Pakistan's largest Urdu daily (Jung), in which he criticized President Zardari for holding his first press conference with President Hamid Karzai. President Zardari called him (presumably on Sept. 8th) and said why he was so angry and he told him how he has betrayed the trust of Pakistani people by inviting Karzai. Mir says, Zardari appeared 'weak' in response.

Given what is doing the rounds in Pakistan, the biggest challenge concurrently facing Pakistani army and the government is that of communication and credibility. This is as important if not more than military action and PPP government has to urgently address it. .At one extreme Pakistanis think that Hamid Mir is a Taliban sympathizer, and on another some think he is on America's payroll and then there are some who think he is a brave and truthful journalist. Personally, I am not too impressed with his analytical abilities, which he doesn't seem to exhibit
much of..cerebral or thoughtful he is not.....but he does have access to President Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and others (including the Taliban) and he does impress me with his ability to speak plainly if rather rashly and without much force of argument. However, this video is doing the rounds and many people believe what he is saying.

A NEW SEX SCANDAL AT PTV

On 8 Jan. 2008, when President Musharraf was in Multan to open a new PTV channel in Seraiki, president’s security entourage noticed that Secretary Information and Chairman PTV Syed Anwar Mahmood and MD PTV Yousaf Baig Mirza slipped out of their hotel rooms after midnight to spend time in a room that was not on the list of the officially booked rooms for the guests of the ceremony. Secretary Information and MD PTV thought no one knew what they were doing.

What they do not know is that almost the entire Caretaker cabinet ministers or at least those who interact with PTV, came to know next day what was going on. Both gentlemen went to spend time with a young, twenty-something female anchorperson of PTV. Her name is Saadia Afzaal, is a divorced tall and skinny girl who joined PTV a few years back traveling in public transport wagons that ply the roads of capital. But now this young girl receives a monthly salary of Rs. 1,50,000 in addition to highest bonuses in the history of PTV for someone like her worth Rs. 1,00,000, and Rs. 5,600 as telephone allowance. Other newly hired girls, bimbos who don’t know wat ‘news’ is, have been hired for having great ‘assets’. Saadia Afzaal is getting all that money that belongs to the people All this to do a show on TV maybe 2 or 3 times a month. But obviously it is the private shows that really matter.

This is the true story of what is happening at PTV right now where people appointed by Chaudhry Pervez Illahi and President Musharraf have turned Pakistan’s so-called family channel into a ‘whore’ channel and where the news and current affairs department has become the ‘Boobs and Pussy Department’ where you cannot get job if you are a man. A woman can only prosper by using her body more than her mind or brain.

Employees of PTV of all ranks and file openly whisper about these things. You dont have to be investigator to discover these details. I have been first hand witness of what is going on and how a young Pakistani girl can’t progress in PTV without paying sexual favours to four horny bosses at PTV that included Secretary Information (now retired) MD PTV, Director of Current Affairs (DCA) and Chief Editor.

All of them are still in their seats despite change of government except Anwar Mahmood who retired. Someone will say these types of things always happen everywhere. But in PTV Secretary Information and MD PTV never dared do this kind of things publicly and opanly. What made them now do it so boldly is the appointment of a professional ‘pimp’ to do the dirty job of hiring girls and sending them to government high-ups. This professional ‘pimp’ is Agha Masood Shorish, director of current affairs (DCA) at PTV News.

Shorish survived in PTV for five years without any knowledge in TV work simply because of his talents in procuring girls for key senior people. His father was an anti-Bhutto newspaper editor and he himself was appointed in this key position at state channel by none other than Chaudhry Pervez Ellahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussian who continually protected Shorish during their government. I am not sure if both of them also received sexual favours from Shorish and I frankly have no proof. They just appointed this man Shorish and then did not interfere. And then to survive without any real expertise in TV work or in journalism Shorish came up with a novel way to secure his job through pimping. He was doing it so discreetly over the past 5 years that no one at PTV really knew about it.

But this all changed in 10 April 2007 when Yousaf Baig Mirza took charge as MD PTV. Baig has a reputation for womanizing. He is a relative of Shahbaz Sharif and was appointed as MD PTV during the government of Nawaz Sharif. When Parvez Musharraf seized power Baig was retained in his post by Anwar Mahmood another longtime secret womanizer. All three of them – Agha Shorish, Yousaf Baig Mirza, Anwar Mahmood – never practised their womanizing openly.

PTV was clean of this dirt until April 2007, the month of the appointment of MD PTV. Secretary Information and MDPTV discovered that Agha Shorish was very bold and courageous in openly hiring and escorting young girls at his spacious PTV office. Shorish had no problem in having three or four young girls hanging around for hours in his office at all times. Employees coming to his office to sign papers were shocked at how these girls are so confident and freely order what they want, make telephone calls.

KFC and Pizza Hut is ordered for them on PTV’s expense. When President Musharraf made his last speech at National Library auditorium in Islamabad before the elections, on 14 February 2008, Shorish walked inside the hall of the auditorium with four or five girls surrounding him. He arrived late and made sure all the senior government officials saw him parading his girls in front of the occupants of the front row seats.

Seeing how bold Shorish is, both secretary Anwar Mahmood and MD Yousaf Baig developed special liking for him. Through Shorish, both of them got passed many favours for their other ‘women friends’ in other departments of PTV whom they could not dare sign paperwork giving them favours. But thanks to Shorish, he was willing to sign any paper giving any favours to any female employee on the mere phone call of the Secretary or the MD without any questions asked.

As it became clear that the government of Gujrat Chaudhrys was coming to end, Shorish intensified his effort to ensure he was not removed from his luxurious seat by making his newly hired girls give special favours to the bosses, like the one he arranged on the occasion of the opening of the Multan Centre of PTV.

Shorish applied for sick leave on 7 and 8 March 2008. Everyone in Current Affairs Department of PTV was surprised that their head was taking a sick leave during an important live TV coverage for the president. Little did they know that he was busy arranging for some fun on the sidelines of the important event in Multan. This scumbaf Shorish spent the past five years not learning one thing about journalism or TV work.

He just made maximum number of contacts and PR work. At one point, MD PTV was so annoyed by this that he banned Shorish from going to Presidency to shoot president programs because did nothing there except make new contacts. No professional journalist and proud Pakistani girl can permit working in this environment.

Since April 2007 PTV current affairs has become den of sex when everyone in Pakistan was busy in judicial crisis PTV management was busy in sex. The management has been protecting the pimp and his other hired girls so much that regular PTV anchorpersons have started openly complaining.

Most recently Saleem Safi a renowned columnist and anchor of the show Saleem Safi Kay Saath on PTV refused to work for PTV and do any shows as long as the pimp was around. He conveyed this directly to MD PTV and other seniors. But Saleem who cares about you. You don’t have a nice chest my friend. Also Ahmad Quraishi and Israr Kassana have resigned due to same reason. Kamran Shahid who is an excellent host has openly warned his bosses why they are giving special favours to girls while hardworking people like him get nothing. This is the result of 8 yrs of enlightend moderation

A Worrying Question

I was invited for a dinner by my colleague who is a British born Pakistani. An Indian Muslim doctor was also a guest. As per usual the conversation trickled towards what was happening in Pakistan.

The Indian doctor said something which made me feel very small. He said: “When the leaders of a country start buying properties outside the country and their children get educated and stay abroad, then the people of the country should know that there is something seriously wrong with the country which the leaders know but are not telling the people of the country.”

He continued, “In India, it is unheard of that even the most corrupt leader has acquired any property broad. Even mega stars like Amitabh and Shah Rukh Khan, sportsmen like Gavasker and Dhoni, singers like Lata and Asha do not any have properties or businesses outside India. You, Pakistanis, should really and seriously start asking your leadership - WHAT IS IT ABOUT PAKISTAN THAT THEY KNOW AND YOU, THE PEOPLE, DON`T? Why do they live abroad while doing politics in Pakistan????

“While he was saying this, I was thinking of Zardari coming to meet Nawaz in his hotel in Dubai driving his Rolls Royce deciding the fate of 170 million Pakistanis and then planning to fly to London to meet another Pakistani leader living in London and leading the most literate Pakistanis from there. Most of the children of these people including the President of Pakistan live in Europe, USA and Dubai with properties across the globe…….
